Cleaning Can Be Fun

Today I actually enjoyed cleaning my apartment. I did some re-organizing while I was cleaning and worked for about two and a half hours. Plenty is left to be done but I'm excited to have a wonderful new attitude. Hopefully this will have such a positive affect that my whole apartment will get really cleaned well and stay in good shape. I rejoice that God is helping me to be successful where I've been having a struggle. This has been one of the things I pray about most.

There is a lot that has to happen right in order to obtain a clean home. You have put your claim on the time and make wise use of it for cleaning ever to take place. I seem to be getting on the war path with things that waste time. You have to decide on the things you want to focus on and choose strategies that will accomplish your priorities. Cleaning and organizing are really skills. I think it's really cool to put these neat skills into practice. I like accepting the challenge of accomplishing chores worthwhile for a clean home, rather than having nothing to show for my time. It makes me enthusiastic to jump in there and get things clean. Thank you God for helping me so much in my attitude and ability to to keep a clean home.

June Scripture Memory

I'm memorizing John Chapter Three for the Living Proof Ministries' Siesta Scripture Memory Team! Memorization of only one verse is required but I like the challenge of memorizing longer scripture passages. Memorizing a chapter of thirty-six verses though has been a real challenge. I memorized the first eighteen verses in May, plus I partially memorized a few more verses. I've been neglecting my memory work this month and was worried since it's almost time to select new scripture to memorize! I started working on memorizing the rest of the verses in this chapter and I'm really happy to say I've almost got it memorized now! I can't wait until I'm able to recite the whole chapter to my family or to anyone who would listen. I love John 3 and I'm looking forward to choosing and memorizing next months scripture too.

Heat Wave

My mom is good about telling me gifts that my stepfather would like. For Father's day though she suggested a card and said there's not really anything he needs. I thought he might enjoy a book though. He's 87 years old and hasn't been quite as active recently. I got him a book of a private history of the White House for the last two years. He said "that sounds interesting!"

We are having such hot weather here and we sure need some rain. I love being inside in the air conditioning but I need more sunlight to help me get my days and nights straightened out. I can't stand the limbo caused by things like: having my days and nights mixed up; straying from the track of eating healthy; and procrastination instead of keeping my apartment clean and neat. I seem to get out of balance easily. The dishes are all washed though and I just straightened up my dressing room. I'm going to persistently try to keep getting a little bit more done so I can make progress instead of repeatedly putting things off. I think God is trying to teach me to make sure my choices are prudent and to not procrastinate.

Beautiful Sunshine

I went swimming at 6:30 this morning. I'm so glad I decided to go swimming instead of sleeping late which I've been overly prone to lately. Early morinings are so refreshing and something about a bright sunny morning makes me feel like I'm little kid. I swim at an indoor pool-- the sun streaming through the windows was very bright dancing on the surface of the pool. I saw rainbow colors rippling in the water. I love bright sunlight; it's such an impressive part of summer memories for me. To me it's one of the best things about summer. My swimming workout left me with limberness and a feeling of well being.

I was praying through the alphabet as I swam. God showed me some things during my prayer swimming time that I want to remember. Actions always define; I should focus on areas where improvement is needed related to this. Something is excellent because of excelling. This sounds basic, but excelling can help me to attain worthy goals in areas where I'm weak. If you do good things God is leading you to do, it brings glory to God.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (KJV)

Sushi

I recently began eating sushi and I love it. I've been thinking it would be great if I could make my own sushi. At the grocery store today I decided to stock my pantry with a few Japanese ingredients-- hot chili oil, nori seaweed wraps, rice vinegar and wasabi. This evening I made sushi for the first time-- Spicey California Rolls. These are made with imitation crabmeat, cucumbers and avocado. I've been reading two books on sushi which I checked out from the library, which has taught me a good bit.

I kept struggling trying to roll the sushi-- thinking one day I may actually get to eat it. Then I realized I shouldn't have halved the nori seaweed wrap. When I finally got to eat some I loved the way it tasted. I think making sushi is pretty simple (assuming you have the right sized nori wrap). I'm happy that I can make good sushi at home. Eating my sushi was a little bit messy because I used brown rice. Brown rice is a whole grain and good for you. To me a little messiness is a small concession to make for the sake of good nutrition.

I love wasabi! Nevermind that the first time I tried it, I ate it whole-- it does like a green pea. My mom and I were eating sushi and she suggested trying a little bit of the wasabi on the sushi; it's delicious.

Scriptures Translated from Swedish to English

I've been interested in Sweden since studying about it in school. I love Swedish language. It would be nice to learn to read and speak Swedish. I found the Svenska 1917 version at Biblegateway.com. Here are a few of my favorite scriptures translated from this Swedish Bible to English. King James Version Scriptures are listed, followed by Swedish, then the English translation.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (KJV)

Galatians 5:22-23 Andens frukt åter är kärlek, glädje, frid, tålamod, mildhet, godhet, trofasthet, saktmod, återhållsamhet. Mot sådant är icke lagen. Svenska 1917

Galatians 5:22-23
Fruit's return is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, MEEKNESS, restraint. In such non law. (Translated from Svenska 1917 to English)

1 Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind... (KJV)

1 Corinthians 13:4 Kärleken är tålig och mild... Svenska 1917

1 Corinthians 13:4 Kärleken is durable and mild... (Translated from Svenska 1917 to English)

Ephesians 6:10-12 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (KJV)

Svenska 1917

Ephesians 6:10-12 För moreover, become increasingly strong in the Lord and in his immense power. Ikläden unto you the whole armor of God arms, so that I be able to hold a position against the devil's cunning attacks. Ty the struggle we emphasize that the fight is a fight not against flesh and blood, but against the princes and great units and world ruler, which prevail in this darkness, against the evil powers of celestial space industries.
(Translated from Svenska 1917 to English)

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (KJV)

Svenska 1917

Philippians 4:8 För Moreover, my brothers, what is true, what dignity, what right, what is pure, what is lovable and worthy of careful, yes, all that chastity devices, and everything that deserves to be praised - the idea of all this. (Translated to English from Svenska 1917)
